A low cost apparatus for the demonstration of the Rutherford scattering by means of a gravitational analog of inverse square law repulsion. Comprises a wooden launching lamp about 300x50x 105mm (LxWxH) with a guiding groove running down its curved front face along its length and index marks at 40, 60, 80 and 100mm height above the base that provides 4 pre-determined launching heights. Also included is a spun aluminium hill about 280mm diameter and 60mm height along with a 19mm steel ball. The shape of aluminium hill has been carefully determined by varying its height above the base line by an amount arrived on the basis of the reciprocal of the radius.
